The Salida Library is happy to present the online digitization of the Mail. This digitization was made possible with library funds, a generous Tuesday Evening Club donation, and a grant from the Statewide Internet Portal Authority.

The Mountain Mail 1880-1883 – The Mountain Mail has been Salida, Colorado’s local newspaper since 1880.

The Salida Mail 1884-1922 – the Mountain Mail was renamed the Salida Mail in 1884.

The Salida Record (Salida’s competing newspaper) is available for the years 1898-1916.

The Salida Record 1898-1916 -the Salida Record was Salida’s competing newspaper with the Mountain Mail.

Other Chaffee County newspapers in the collection:

The Turret Gold Belt – issues dating from 1904-1909.

The St. Elmo Mountaineer – 4 issues from 1885.

The Whitehorn News – issues dating from 1897-1907

The Chaffee County Record – for the year 1898.

Thank you to the State Internet Portal Authority (SIPA) for their generous grant. Thank you to the Tuesday Evening Club for using their remaining funds and donating to this project. And thank you to Jeff Donlan for his vision and support of this project.
